Information on Membership & Auditions

Cornerstone Chorale has been performing choral music and bringing our Washington Heights/Inwood community together since 1990! We sing a variety of music with our neighbors, from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic music, to modern pieces, folk music and world music. The Chorale rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM in the neighborhood. Rehearsals are accompanied by an accomplished pianist.

Membership is by audition. The audition is designed to be a welcoming, positive experience. Applicants may provide a short video of a song or excerpt prior to the audition, if they choose. Choral experience is helpful, but not required. We are looking for ability to match pitch, and are listening to vocal quality. Ability to read music is helpful, but we also consider aptitude and willingness to learn.
